DIY, Personalised 3'D Name

Michelle

DIY, Personalised 3'D Name: I loved the idea of having Oliver's name on the wall in his room but didn't fancy the paying the hefty price tag. So I decided to buy some cheap MDF letters on e-bay and have a go myself. I have to say I have had lots of lovely compliments & no-one suspected I had painted them myself or paid only £2.50 a letter, I'm delighted with the result! 20130924-135928.jpg Equipment MDF Letters 200mm high MDF Primer 2 Dulux tester pots ( you can use any brand, I just found a good colour match) Old Tupperware pot 2 paintbrushes Newspaper (to cover the surface you are working on) Apron (if your clumsy like me!)

20130922-153916.jpg Method Give every letter an even coat of the MDF primer Wait for the letters to completely dry (the first one was dry by the time I finished the last) Gently remove any excess drips or rough edges with smooth sand paper Give every letter another coat of MDF primer Wait for the letters to completely dry Gently remove any excess drips of rough edges with smooth sandpaper Give every letter an even coat with the tester pot

20130922-153938.jpg TIP: I decanted the tester pots into an old Tupperware pot & used a proper paint brush rather then the little brushes that came in the tester pots, as this will give you a better finish Wait for the letters to completely dry Give every letter another even coat with the tester pot
