Afternoon tea at South Lodge After a long afternoon at the stables we thought we would treat ourselves to afternoon tea. South Lodge is just opposite our family pub and we do not go there nearly enough. When I was living at the pub I would walk in the grounds daily and they made me so welcome to come in the building also. When we arrive we are shown through to the Drawing room, it is stunning! Everything seems to have a place and unlike other places they have not had to 'create' an image, everything just oozes style! We were handed the menus and Florence was given her very own special afternoon tea menu. Becky and I both had a glass of Nye Timber English sparking and Jon had a Pint. The cakes and scones are to die for!! We made our way through all of it even though we said there was no possible way we could and that we would definitely be needing a doggy bag! (And for all the mummies who have spotted it... yes that is a bottle! It is VERY quiet in South Lodge ;) If you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion then look no further, and don't be shy about bringing the kids, they are always catered for.
And you must have some scones with clotted cream and jam... SO delicious!
