Tilgate Park: Last Saturday we decided to take Oliver to the Holmbush Farm but when we arrived to our surprise it was closed! We had to think quickly as we had a very excited, soon to be disappointed toddler who was chomping through the picnic in the back of the car. We decided stay local-ish & headed of to Tilgate Park as we had heard they also had some animals (we had promised Oliver that we could see some animals). Luckily it was a short drive & although out of season the nature centre was just perfect! Enough animals to keep us all entertained & just the right size for a gentle stroll around. Although a bit of a trek back up the hill once you get down by the lake, which can luckily be rewarded by an ice-cream from the cafe. The Nature Centre had Meerkats, Snakes, a very big Mr skinny legs Spider, Pigs, Cows & Otters to name but a few. The facilities are clean & the parking was plentiful (for a fine sunny day). £3.00 for the day. Entry Prices The entry charge is £2 for over 17s and £1 for 2-16 year olds. Under twos are free. There will be no charges in the winter months. Tilgate Nature Centre is NOT a profit-making organisation so the entrance charges and any donations raised, go directly back into looking after the animals and keeping them happy.
I'd highly recommend Tilgate Park it huge & has lots to do, a great playground, go-ape & the nature centre & much more. Have fun & don't forget to bring 3 £1 coins for the carpark! Michelle X
