Another sunny Brighton day

Another sunny Brighton day I am currently looking at moving out to the country. One of the great things about Brighton is that when the sun shines, you feel like you are on holiday! So a few weeks ago the sun shone and we head out with a picnic down to the seafront. Florence loves being outdoors wherever we are, it is perfect for an energetic toddler. Lots of space to run around and free! 20140527-150801-54481555.jpg We are very lucky that most of our friends are child friendly... trust me some are not. So Florence had a great time chatting to everyone on the beach and playing with passing children. 20140527-150801-54481179.jpg We always go down to Morrocco's in Hove which is quieter than Brighton and Florence loves the ice cream there. 20140527-150801-54481008.jpg Jon introduced her to this VERY colourful Bubblegum ice cream........... luckily we only go every so often! 20140527-150801-54481361.jpg Lets hope for many more sunny days like this, I am enjoying the easy bedtimes because Flossie has been running around all day!

A stunning walk in Southwater country park

A stunning walk in Southwater country park: the ABEILLE 'official' photographer Alan Wright is always taking breath taking gorgeous pictures in a local country park which we have never visited. Oliver's had another horrid chest infection and we have had a pretty miserable week, so we decided to venture out late in the afternoon with the dog to give him a very welcome change of scenery.image

Perhaps as we didn't go until after 5, we found it very easy to park & not over crowded. To our sheer delight on arrival we were greeted by an ice-cream van, two swans & five tiny Cygnets.. Oliver was squealing with delight, so we perched ourselves on the side of the lake with our naughty ice-cream and enjoyed the beautiful view.image

It wasn't long before Oscar, our dog was keen to start walking so we set-off around the lake. It's very pretty with lots of lovely places to set-up a picnic & a beautiful little beach area where some children were swimming in the clear shallow water. Oliver is obsessed with stones so made a bee-line for the water edge closely followed by Dadda. I sat back with the dog, who would have been straight in the water given half the chance! It was lovely watching groups of well behaved teenagers having fun with footballs & bbq's. They have designated bbq areas, It's such a good idea, a little hidden oasis. Some people were swimming in the lake & with the children giggling and playing in the water the atmosphere was infectious.image

We eventually enticed Oliver away from the stones & carried on walking around the lake, it was beautiful! The path was wide & clear and would have been perfect for the pushchair, which with hindsight would have been a good idea as Oliver is exhausted with the chest infection & I carried him most of the way... I'm sure the country park has lots more to offer & we will certainly be back to explore! Michelle x[codepeople-post-map]

A taste of summer

A taste of summer Over the last couple of weeks we have had a few glimpses of the sun coming out to play. And we are SO ready for it. Flossie has enjoyed numerous trips out to the park, the seafront and the countryside. She has on all of those outings had lots of treats! She loves ice cream and it keeps her entertained for a while too which is a bonus.

20130429-093138.jpg We went to Brighton beach with some friends who have older kids (Flossie loves older children), I suggested a game that I used to play as a child which involves finding pretty shells. Although flossie didn't quite get it, she did keep running up to me with giant stones that I'm sure were just as much a treasure to her. It kept Anna and Leon busy for a good hour!

20130429-093125.jpg20130429-093131.jpg Jon had a day off and Whilst I'm getting back into my running it worked really well that I ran round the park while they played in it.... I found them on the slide!

20130429-093117.jpg Our family country pub 'The Crabtree' is a great place for Flossie to run round in, there is a lot of safe garden space which is ideal.

Our fantastic pastry chef Amy made us lots of yummy ice cream.

Apart from the purchase of ice cream these are all free things to do on a nice day- we love it, and Florence slept great afterwards!

Afternoon treat at Sugar and Snow

Afternoon treat at Sugar and Snow: It was a rainy nearly snowy day and we were at al loss at what to do. Both Florence and Oliver had shorter naps than usual and the thought of a long afternoon cooped up indoors filled us with dread!I called Michelle and asked what she was doing and she suggested we get in the car and head into Horsham to try out this new waffle and Ice-cream house out Sugar and Snow.Sugar and Snow.. We turn up around 2.45pm and there were a few people inside already. It's Very retro and the smell of maple syrup hits your nose instantly! Straight as you walk in is the largest selection of homemade ice cream I have ever seen. Florence and Oliver are in awe and instantly squish their noses up against the glass to have a look.

20130326-202623.jpg We are seated in a comfortable booth, can we order everything that is on the menu? After deciding that was totally ridiculous we ordered a strawberry shake for Florence and I and Michelle and Oliver chose chocolate.

They were to die for and if that was all we had ordered we would have walked out with big smiles on our faces... But we didn't! Michelle and I both ordered banana and pecan pancakes and Florence and oliver had waffles with caramel and chocolate sauce on the side.

20130329-100911.jpg There were so many pecans in our pancakes it made them ridiculously indulgent and the pancakes themselves were perfectly cooked! The owners were there themselves so we had a chat with them (I think they might have been a tad busy) until Florence and oliver started harmonising high pitched screams. Major sugar overload I think!

20130326-202557.jpg We left planning our next visit.. It's a great place to bring the kids and the staff are very obliging with any requests .

20130326-202611.jpg Definitely worth a visit- I am sure it will be heaving in the summer - Daisy X
